System requirements for Meet on computers
A computer on which Meet is to be used must meet the following requirements:
Supported operating systems
Meet supports the current version and the two previous major versions of these operating systems:
- Apple macOS
- Microsoft Windows
- Chrome OS
- Ubuntu and other Debian-based Linux distributions
Meet works with the following operating systems on mobile devices:
- Android 5.0 or higher Information on checking and updating the Android version
- iOS 15 or higher
Meet video conferences in the Gmail app are compatible with the following operating systems:
- Android 6 or higher
- iOS 15 or higher
Supported web browsers
You should use the latest version of one of the browsers listed below:
- Google Chrome. Download current version
- Mozilla Firefox. Download current version
- Microsoft Edge. Download current version
- Apple Safari
Tip: If your browser does not support Meet video conferencing, you can dial in using the telephone number and PIN, provided you have received them from the meeting organizer.
Access to camera and microphone
Before using Meet, you must allow the program to access your computer’s camera and microphone.
Allow Meet access on first use
- Call up the Meet start page in a web browser.
- Click on New video conference
Allow.
Change settings to allow access
If you are not prompted to allow access or if you have previously blocked access, you can change the settings.
- Call up the Meet start page in a web browser.
- Click on New meeting.
- Click on “Camera blocked” at the top right
.
- Click on https://meet.google.com to always allow access to the camera and microphone.
- Click on Done. The connection to the video conference is established automatically. If the video conference is not updated, leave it and join it again.
If your computer meets the requirements but you still experience problems with video calls, try these troubleshooting steps.
Alternatively, you can also participate in the video conference on the move using the corresponding app.

Participate in the video conference
You can either conveniently join the video conference via link in Google Calendar, if you use this environment. Or you follow the invitation link that was sent to you via mail or messenger. Both procedures are shown here.
Participate via a Google Calendar appointment
In the calendar you can see your scheduled meetings and join them immediately.
On the web
- In Google Calendar, click the appointment you want to attend.
- Click on Join Hangouts Meet and in the window that opens, click on Join the meeting.
On mobile devices
- Open the appointment in Google Calendar.
- Tap the Join video call link.

- Follow the on-screen instructions to join the meeting.
