KI Kompass – first live conversation
Last week was an important milestone for our current AI project when we hosted our first online event with Lakshman Rathnam, CEO of Wordly.ai.
This virtual meeting, which took place over Zoom, brought together a diverse mix of industry experts, language enthusiasts and professionals to discuss AI, the future of work and the transformative role of AI in language mediation.

The event featured an impressive live demonstration of Wordly.ai’s cutting-edge real-time translation capabilities. Lakshman ran Wordly’s live translation via screen sharing the whole time – and it worked well. Especially as everyone was able to use the translation in their preferred language on their smartphone at the same time.
Participants were able to see first-hand the technology’s ability to seamlessly support over 50 languages – without the need to download an app.
This demonstration underscored not only the small technological marvel that is Wordly.ai, but also its potential to democratize communication across language barriers.
Effects on the labor market?
A key aspect of our subsequent discussion was the evolving relationship between AI and human language mediators.
AI was largely seen less as a replacement and more as a complementary tool that can improve the work of language experts. The initial skepticism towards AI is gradually giving way to a broader acceptance of AI’s role in enriching the translation process.
The discussion focused on how this synergy between human expertise and artificial intelligence could open up new avenues for professional development in the translation sector.
The event also sparked a lively dialog about the emergence of new roles and the training of translators. We will continue to work on this in the future.
